Orchestra

Orchestral repertory is of an inexhaustible richness and it is for me a source of intense musical satisfaction.
Every year I devote fifty percent of my time to working with different orchestras.

As a student at the Menuhin School in London I was able, from a young age, to take part in concerts all over England thanks to the school’s string orchestra and it was through this exciting musical experience that I learned to love being part of an orchestra. Following this as a student at the Juilliard School, I was lucky enough over five years to be part of some unforgettable concerts.  The conductors that one after another took the stand (James de Priest, Pierre Boulez, Otto Werner von Muller ….) had a lasting influence on me.
Fresh from graduation and back in France, I often filled in for the Lyon National Orchestra and the Toulouse Capitole Orchestra and thus gained a wonderful orchestral experience in the midst of the section, under the baton of Emmanuel Krivine, Michel Plasson and other great conductors.

From 1998 onwards I regularly held the position of concertmaster with several orchestras: the Marseille Opera, the Lorraine National Orchestra and the Poitou-Charentes Orchestra, followed a few years later by the Paris Orchestral Ensemble with whom I worked for several years and, at the invitation of Michel Plasson, four years with the Toulouse Capitole Orchestra.

The seven years I spent with the La Scala Milan Orchestra both as concertmaster and assistant concertmaster gave me the opportunity to perform on this celebrated Milanese stage and to travel all over the world with an exceptional orchestra under the direction of the greatest masters; Ricardo Muti of course, but also Sawallisch, Gergiev, Chung, Prêtre, Plasson…This proved to be an irreplaceable experience which continues to influence my life as an orchestral musician.
It also led to invitations from other orchestras; the Toscanini Orchestra in Parma, the Netherlands Philharmonic, the Strasbourg Philharmonic…and the opportunity to work with other great conductors: Lorin Maazel, Djansug Kakhidze, Gerd Albrecht, Ernest Marinez Izquierdo, Pedro Halffter…as well as many others.

Since 2000, my orchestral involvement has focussed on Spain, firstly with the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra where I was principal guest concermaster for several years and then the Las Palmas Orchestra who I have appeared with over the last six years.
Today I frequently visit Sevilla where I work with the Royal Orchestra of Sevilla on operatic and symphonic productions.
